Blessings, Loves…
After we’ve set our intentions, called upon the Ancestors, and let our 7-day or votive candles burn down, the work isn’t quite finished. The state of your glass jar after the flame goes out is a spiritual report card. It tells you how your energy moved, what obstacles you faced, and whether your manifestation is on its way.
Whether you are working with a long-term 7-day jar or a quick-burning votive, here is how to decode the messages left behind in the glass.

1. The Clean Burn: The “Green Light”
The Appearance: The glass is crystal clear from top to bottom. There is little to no wax residue, and no black soot or cloudiness on the sides.
- The Spiritual Meaning: This is the best possible outcome! A clean burn signifies that your intentions were clear, your energy was focused, and the universe has accepted your petition without resistance.
- The Message: “The path is open.” Your ancestors or the deities you’ve petitioned are in agreement with your work. You can rest easy knowing the spell is in motion and should manifest exactly as planned.
2. The Black Soot (Top Only): The Temporary Block
The Appearance: The top 1/4 or 1/3 of the jar is coated in black soot, but the rest of the jar burns clean as it goes down.
- The Spiritual Meaning: This represents a “rough start.” You likely faced some initial resistance or negative energy surrounding your goal, but through the power of your ritual, you pushed past it.
- The Message: “Resistance overcome.” You may have had some doubts or external interference at first, but your spiritual strength broke through the clouds. The outcome is still positive.
3. The Burnt Jar (Total Black Soot): The Warning
The Appearance: The entire jar is covered in dark, heavy soot, making it difficult to see the flame or the wax through the glass.
- The Spiritual Meaning: This indicates heavy opposition, negative energy, or “spiritual smog.” If you were doing a protection or banishing spell, it means there was a lot of negativity to clear away. If you were doing a manifestation spell, it suggests someone or something is actively blocking your path.
- The Message: “Work harder.” The spirits are letting you know that one candle might not be enough. You may need to perform a spiritual cleansing (like a ritual bath) and repeat the work once the energy is clearer.
4. The White Soot/Cloudy Glass: The Spiritual Presence
The Appearance: Instead of black smoke, the glass looks milky, cloudy, or has white residue.
- The Spiritual Meaning: This is a very mystical sign. White soot often represents spiritual intervention or the presence of spirits/Ancestors. It shows that higher powers were actively “cleaning” the situation while the candle burned.
- The Message: “You are being assisted.” Your petition was heard by the higher realms, and they are working behind the scenes to adjust things in your favor.
5. The Cracked or Broken Jar: The “Energy Burst”
The Appearance: The glass cracks, or in extreme cases, completely shatters during the burn.
- The Spiritual Meaning: This is a high-intensity sign. A crack usually means the candle “took a hit” for you. It broke a curse, shattered a major blockage, or protected you from an incoming spiritual attack.
- The Message: “It is finished (but be careful).” The energy was too intense for the vessel to hold. While it means a breakthrough has occurred, it can also mean your protection was tested to its limit. Dispose of the glass safely and immediately.
Remember, reading the glass is an intuitive art. Always check your own “gut” feeling first. If a jar looks “dirty” but you feel a sense of peace, trust your spirit over the soot!
Thank you always for joining me!!!
